Gasdynamic approach to solving the problem of the fracture of a brittle rod by an intense shock wave
Abstract
An analysis is presented of the interaction of an intense shock wave with a homogeneous rod, leading to the intense fracture and vaporization of the rod material. The mixture of the vaporized material and the detonation products is considered as an ideal fluid. An approximate self-similar solution to the problem is obtained, and the conditions of its existence are investigated.
