Means for reducing effects of seeing and telescope vibrations
Abstract
The choice of location for the large European solar telescope at a given site, reduction of ground layer turbulence generated by the natural surface of the site, and minimizing turbulence caused by the facility itself are discussed. Ways to reduce vibrations in the tower and telescope, and optical means for reduction of effects of atmospheric seeing, residual instrumental vibrations, and telescope aberrations are considered.
