New types of mode locking in stimulated radiation in optical resonators
Abstract
The feasibility of light pulse generation of duration up to 3 x 10 to the -14th s due to tunnel mode locking in lasers is discussed. Mode locking in nondispersive media is considered, emphasizing achievements published in the literature. The main specific features of tunnel mode locking are addressed, analyzing the effect of tunnel transversal of light pulses through dispersive medium. The features of tunnel mode locking in lasers as well as for SRR components are covered. Finally, the correction of the refractive index dispersion is discussed.
