Semiconductor lasers
Abstract
A review is presented concerning research in the field of injection lasers and electron-beam-pumped semiconductor lasers. It is shown that multicomponent solid solutions, such as GaInPAs, AlGaAsSb, and other quarternary solutions, can provide lattice matching for perfect heterojunction lasers operating in the wide infrared region. Two-dimensional scanning of output light can be performed using electron-beam-pumped semiconductor lasers. It is suggested that the parameters of these lasers may allow them to be used in projection television, optical memory, and scanning optical microscopy.
