Finite element stream function solutions for transonic turbomachinery flows
Abstract
The Galerkin finite element procedure is applied to the stream function formulation of transonic turbomachinery flows. Numerical dissipation, necessary for the calculation of mixed flows with shocks, is introduced by the artificial density method. Solutions are obtained for blade-to-blade cascades as well as for the radial equilibrium equation of the hub-to-shroud through flow, which includes the rotational effects.
