Digital image processing with applications to feature extraction

Digital image processing techniques are surveyed in the context of an overall image processing system characterized by extensive use of feature extraction for subsequent object detection and/or classification. This overall system is described in some detail identifying functional processing blocks. This is followed by discussion of various approaches to implementing each of these functional processing blocks. Emphasis is placed upon stochastic modeling assumptions and subsequent development of model based processing algorithms.
