Trunk transmission network using K-band SS-TDMA system
Abstract
This paper proposes a K-band (30/20 GHz band) satellite-switched time-division multiple-access (SS-TDMA) satellite communication system for the digital trunk transmission network of Japan. A four-spot-beam antenna, six transponder units and a 6 x 6 microwave-switch-matrix (MSM) are provided in the satellite, and 200 Mbps TDMA terminal with four-phase CPSK modem is employed in the earth station. The system operates synchronously with the terrestrial digital network synchronization system by controlling the on-board switching clock oscillator from a specific earth station. The on-board switching pattern and time-slot assignment in each earth station are changed according to the daily traffic fluctuation. Simulated system experiment using experimental facilities is being carried out.
