Environmental geologic studies in the Georges Bank Area, United States Northeastern Atlantic Continental margin, 1978 - 1979
Abstract
The reports present data acquired from 16 cruises between 1977 and 1979 as well as the results of the long-term tripod and current meter program begun in 1975 to study sediment transport. Program objectives are: To measure or estimate the rate of sediment mobility; to assess the seasonal and spatial variability of the major sediment transport mechanisms; to identify and map mass-movement features; to identify potentially disruptive features; and to assess geotechnical properties of near-surface sediment in selected tracts.
