On the inclusion of information on eddy structure in second-order-closure models of turbulent flows
Abstract
The difficulties inherent in second order closure modeling are reviewed. The impropriety of using universal single scale equations in closing the equations is discussed. Defining a simple tensor scale and deriving equations for its component from a moment expansion of the two point correlation tensor equation is outlined. The results are compared with experimental data from nearly homogeneous shearing flows.
