Instruments for space investigations
Abstract
The operating principles of several satellite-borne devices designed for the measurement of small currents, and data processing and storage are described. Consideration is given to (1) the LAM-1 small-current measuring device, which is part of spectrometer instrumentation for measuring the spectral intensity distribution of solar UV radiation; (2) the LAM-2 small-current measuring device, which is a component of ionospheric-sounding instrumentation; and (3) a Z-80 microprocessor based system for the processing and storage of solar-wind data (in the framework of the Plasmag program).
