Use of acoustic emissions to predict ground stability
Abstract
The acoustic emission (AE) method of sensing, monitoring and interpreting noises operated by soil and rock movement was utilized in an attempt to relate it to the material's potential instability. Both soil and rock materials were investigated in the laboratory and in the field. In the field both open cut and tunnels were investigated.
