The Australian domestic system - Space segment overview
Abstract
The space segment design features of the Australian National Satellite System include operation at Ku-band, frequency reuse through orthogonal linear polarizations, multiple shaped antenna beams, transmit beam switching, high and low power transponders with commandable gain settings, and transponder redundancy provisioning. These features will result in substantial operational flexibility, making possible a wide range of services to be offered including high quality TV relay, direct broadcasting to remote areas, digital data transmission, and voice applications.
