Use of SOLA to predict unsteady incompressible viscous flow in burning grain slots
Abstract
The SOLA computer program was developed to predict the flow of unsteady viscous phenomena assocated with vortex shedding is described. The computer program treats unsteady incompressible viscous flow with arbitrary rectangular boundaries in two dimensional planar or axisymmetric coordinates. SOLA is a streamlined version of the classical marker and cell (MAC) techniques. SOLA was modified to solve viscous flow over and within rectangular slots with inhibitor stubs and grain burning. The Code is validated for cavity flows by comparison to other numerical schemes and experimental data. Parametric studies demonstrate the viability of the code for application to rocket motor problems.
