A satellite-service approach for long-duration Space Platforms
Abstract
Attention is given to the Space Platform which will provide utilities to multiple independent payloads as well as to a docked Space Shuttle. Its electrical power, thermal control, command data, attitude control, propulsion and structural-mechanical subsystems are described. Design considerations for extra-vehicular activities are outlined noting maintenance, computer diagnosis, tools, and payload changeouts.
