Waveguide resonators for lasers
Abstract
A multipass waveguide resonator which has the shape of a pentahedral prism with two plane-parallel faces has been fabricated from neodymium glass without using any additional reflecting coatings. Generation of 200-250 microsec pulses with a threshold of 500 J and an energy up to 5 J (when pumped three times the threshold) has been obtained with a laser using the proposed resonator. The lateral and longitudinal divergence of the beam does not exceed 0.0015 and 0.0043, respectively.
