Eddy flow as an exact solution of a statistical vortex equation or the Navier-Stokes equations
Abstract
An eddy with spiral streamlines without restrictions is extended to infinity. In a self-consistent flow field the streamlines are limited by interactions between all vortices. Each streamline is finished with a maximum limiting radius, where another solution is beginning. In an analogous solution of the Navier-Stokes equations such limiting diameters may only be realized by exterior boundary conditions. Referring to an element of turbulence, if regarded as a finite formation with spiral streamlines, the problem arises to transmit the statistical limiting property to the solution of the hydrodynamical equations of motion.
