Asymptotic expansions for the problem of boundary layer formation
Abstract
Asymptotic expansions (for t tending to 0) are obtained for the problem of the appearance of a boundary layer on a body that is suddenly set into motion in a viscous incompressible fluid. These expansions make it possible to calculate fluid velocity in the boundary layer and the force of viscous friction. A plane-parallel symmetric boundary layer is examined, and it is considered that a leading stagnation point is present in the layer.
