Turbulence quantities of a turbulent boundary layer over a d-type rough surface
Abstract
Experimental and analytical examinations were performed on the turbulence in a turbulent boundary layer above a d-type rough surface which had a zero pressure gradient. Measurements were performed in a flow with a Reynolds number of 1,000,000. Determinations of the mean velocity, turbulent intensity, the Reynolds shear stress, and spectral density were performed, and solutions for the momentum equation and the mean flow- and turbulent-kinetic energy were estimated. Comparisons were made of the results with those obtained over a smooth surface and over a k-type rough surface.
