Flow of a viscoelastic fluid along a torsionally oscillating flat plate
Abstract
The flow of a viscoelastic fluid along a torsionally oscillating flat plate is considered. The effect of elasticity depends on a dimensionless number S. First and thirdorder approximations to the transverse velocity are obtained. The secondorder solution reveals a radial axial flow of steady and unsteady parts. The steady part does not vanish outside the boundary layer region and hence the equations are solved by a Pohlhausentype method for the steady part of the flow. The effects of the elastic parameter on the velocity distribution, the pressure distribution and the shearing stress at the plate are presented in graphical and tabular forms.
