Spread spectrum transmission. Part 1: General characteristics
Abstract
The design parameters characterizing data transmission techniques are discussed in order to identify the operating conditions favorable to the utilization of spread spectrum modulation. The larger band required may be compensated by the higher data density allowed by lower noise to signal ratios. The problems discussed include interference protection, multiple access, modulation techniques for spread spectrum transmission (such as direct sequence, frequency hopping, time hopping and message modulation), code generators and synchronization.
