Reliability: Concept, structure, analysis, demonstration
Abstract
The reliability of guided missiles was investigated. The reliability concept is defined as having an exponential probability distribution, the characteristics of which are given. Redundance of units is useful if the utilization time is small with respect to the average lifetime without redundant components. Life cycle reliability is essentially determined by the missile storage reliability. Requirements for securing reliability and long term storage capability are analyzed. Organizational measures for reliability are presented. Risks involved with storage and methods to demonstrate reliability are given. Software reliability is also treated.
