Laser-induced initiation of explosions
Abstract
The experimental setup used to study laser-induced initiation of explosives is presented and experimental results are discussed. Internal molecular energy distribution in laser-induced initiation and the role of excited electronic states in initiation processes are treated. The spectroscopic characteristics of the cyclic polynitramines HMX and RDX, and the conditions that have to be fulfilled to enable the study of laser-induced initiation in an explosive are considered.
