Time-dependent Stark-broadening measurements in planar-laser target experiments
Abstract
Experiments using a single beam frequency doubled neodymium glass laser irradiating an assortment of planar targets are described. The time dependent Stark broadening of the AL XIII Lyman series lines using a streaked X-ray crystal spectrograph with a temporal resolution of 80 ps were measured. The results were analyzed using a standard line broadening theory which is presented for the high lying Lyman lines. The comparison between the time integrated and time dependent spectral lines is presented. The results illustrate the possibilities now available for characterization of planar target plasmas.
