Approximate TV-SAT orbit injection optimization by means of impulsive Hohmann transfers
Abstract
The optimal injection strategy for TV-SAT is analyzed using impulsive Hohmann transfers. Considering the constraints imposed by the visibility, the limited thrust arcs and rendezvous time, a method to find an approximate solution for the optimal injection strategy by a sequence of 5 impulses is developed. Flow charts of the computer program are given and results based on the presently assumed transfer orbit are shown. Although the method is approximate, it is a useful tool for mission analysis, provides initial guesses for standard optimization procedures and may be applied to define alternative strategies in case of non-nominal apogee maneuvers.
