Examination of optical holograms by a scanning electron microscope

Two optical holograms recorded in silver halide photographic emulsions were examined by a scanning electron microscope. Surface relief produced by the light exposure as well as in depth silver fringes (also lightwise) were imaged. Other structure, some of which is periodic, but none of which is known to be produced by the light, is pointed out and possible causes of the patterns mentioned.
