Fluid dynamics aspects of internal ballistics
Abstract
The interior ballistics cycle including the presentation of different models and computer codes used in interior ballistics are discussed. An example of application is given. Furthermore the experimental methods and associated theories are described, which allow the foregoing models to be validated. These methods and theories also yield indispensable input and allow to verification of the computed results. The gaseous outflow from tube launchers, the physical and thermodynamics characteristics of propellant gases are considered. Specific problems encountered in interior ballistics (liquid propellants, behavior of antierosive additives, behavior of solid propellants at high pressures) are given.
