A superregenerative amplifier in linear mode as a radar range gate
Abstract
A formula for the output voltage of a superregenerative amplifier in linear mode when used as a radar range gate is outlined. The formula is applicable to transients and can be used to find the gate response to radar echo pulses at ranges different from the range of maximum gate response. Radar echo as well as noise and jamming are often random processes, and formulas for the mean square output when the input is a stationary or transient random process are given. The relationships among amplification, gatewidth, and bandwidth are presented.
