Monitoring system for big electric motors controlled by microprocessor
Abstract
A prototype, microprocessor controlled monitoring system for machines run by electric motors was developed. Various criteria and conditions were considered for their applicability to monitoring. A combination of different monitoring instruments for the acquisition of limit values was achieved in a single device. A considerable increase in performance due to the possibility of programming was hoped for. However, the increasing degree of automation required a variety of monitoring steps in order to ensure troublefree operation. The availability of highly integrated electronic modules makes it possible to condition machine response at any moment during operation. Fields of application include the chemical industry, marine and offshore operations, and monitoring electrical drive systems in nuclear power plants.
