On the conductivity of two dimensional electrons in a strong magnetic field
Abstract
The conductivity of 2-D electrons in a strong magnetic field in the presence of a random potential is calculated. The potential is assumed to be smooth over the magnetic length and its variation large compared to temperature. The exact expression for Hall conductivity is obtained which generalizes the result by Prange and Laughlin to the case of partially occupied Landau level.
