Real time signal processing V; Proceedings of the Meeting, Arlington, VA, May 4-7, 1982
Abstract
The theories, hardware, applications, limitations, and research proceeding in real time signal processing are explored. Parallel processing algorithms and architectures are discussed, including parallel, systolic array, and asynchronous processing. Electro-optical, acousto-optical, and optical scanning methods are described. FFT processing, correlation cancellation, spread spectrum code processing, CCD two-dimensional correlator, and adaptive filtering methods and hardware are investigated. Attention is devoted to phased array radar processing with an optical matrix-vector processor, a two-dimensional magneto-optic spatial light modulator for signal processing, spatial filters for background suppression in IR mosaic sensor systems, and charge injection and IR focal plane arrays. The usage of VHSIC for real time processing is studied, and consideration is given to multiple processor systems for war games, distributed processors, and multiple data stream architectures.
