A matched filter using the main maximum of a signal for estimating the time of arrival
Abstract
The use of a time-integrating matched filter for estimating the time of arrival of an optical signal is demonstrated with reference to a passive detection system. The proposed filter is shown to be 2.5-3 times as efficient as a conventional filter system. It is also shown that the efficiency of the matched filter increases with the distance to the target.
