The load characteristics of frequency multipliers
Abstract
A first-order nonlinear equation is obtained which makes it possible to determine the conversion efficiency of a varactor frequency multiplier in the optimum regime. It is shown that in a varactor frequency doubler with a sharp p-n transition, the optimum conversion efficiency is a function of the ratio Pl/Rs to the 3d (where Pl is the active power at the main frequency and Rs is normalized diode loss resistance) and does not depend on the bias voltage.
