Characteristics of wave propagation in coupled slow-wave structures of finite length
Abstract
Coupled slow-wave structures have been used for the suppression of parasitic oscillation in microwave devices. This paper presents theoretical and experimental studies of the field along z in two coupled slow-wave structures for various values of the coupling parameter, boundary conditions, and lengths of the coupling region. It is shown that, at relatively small lengths of the coupled structures, it is possible to achieve large selective losses at frequencies of the self-excitation of parasitic oscillation at the minus-first harmonic. An experiment has established the existence of an optimal coupling between the structures, at which the damping is maximal and the frequency band of the damping zone is of maximum width.
