Statistical models of powercombining circuits for Otype travelingwave tube amplifiers
Abstract
The design outlined here allows for imbalances in the power of the devices being combined and for differences in phase. It is shown that the coefficient of combination is described by a beta distribution of the first type when a small number of devices are being combined and that the coefficient is asymptotically normal in relation to both the number of devices and the phase variance of the tube's output signals. Relations are derived that make it possible to calculate the efficiency of a powercombining circuit and the reproducibility of the design parameters when standard devices are used.
