Short-term prediction of HF propagation

Global maps of the MUF variability were generated from F-layer critical frequencies detected by the Japanese ISS-b satellite from October 1978 to March 1979. Weekly comparisons were made between the maps and MUF of HF propagation paths predicted three months in advance, and the corrections were then added to the predictions. After the corrections were introduced, 39 errors were detected during a trial run of 100 observations.
