The spectrum of strong intensity fluctuations of light beams in randomly irregular media
Abstract
Calculations of intensity-fluctuation spectra are important in studies of laser-beam propagation in randomly irregular (turbulent) media. In this paper, asymptotic formulas are obtained for calculating the spectrum of light-beam intensity fluctuations in a region of saturated fluctuations (beta sub 0)-squared much greater than unity, where (beta sub 0)-squared is the variance of plane-wave intensity fluctuations, calculated in the approximation of the method of smooth perturbations. Theoretical results are compared with experimental data, and attention is given to the correspondence of numerical data with asymptotic-spectrum results.
