A spatial filter which suppresses single-ray noise
Abstract
The paper examines the basic features of the operation of a spatial filter which suppresses partially scattered single-ray noise. It is shown that the efficiency of filter operation depends substantially on the choice of its geometric parameters both in the presence and in the absence of cross correlation between signal and noise. An experiment involving the vertical sounding of the ionosphere has confirmed the main conclusions of the theoretical analysis. Recommendations on the practical application of the spatial filter are presented.
