Azimuth deviations of short radio waves on extended meridional paths
Abstract
An expression is obtained in the adiabatic approximation for the azimuth deviation of the arrival angle of short radio waves. Azimuth deviations of a sliding ray along an extended meridional path are calculated in the framework of the equinox ionospheric model. The diurnal variation of azimuth deviations is determined for various reception points on a meridional round-the-world path, and the shift and spreading of the focal spot in the antipode are analyzed.
