Investigation of the idle-running radiation pattern of a vibrator in an infinite plane array
Abstract
The method of integral equations is used to analyze the idle-running radiation pattern of a symmetrical cylindrical vibrator in an infinite rectangularly centered array with a reflector. It is shown that in the E-plane of the array the idle-running pattern is significantly distorted compared with the pattern of a single vibrator if its length is equal or close to the wavelength. At vibrator lengths that do not exceed half the wavelength these patterns practically coincide. In the H-plane, distortions of the idle-running pattern are insignificant in the entire wave range.
