Design of a relativistic-electron-beam amplifier with a magnetic modulator
Abstract
Attention is given to the theoretical aspects of the design of a microwave amplifier with magnetic modulation of the relativistic electron beam; in this device, the drift velocity of electrons is magnetostatically converted into oscillatory velocity. The effect of the energy and angular spread of electron velocities in the relativistic electron beam on the efficiency of the amplifier is evaluated.
