Correct allowance for the Doppler effect in the coherent processing of space-time radio signals
Abstract
The paper determines the limits of the validity of the approximate nonrelativistic description of the Doppler effect in the space-time processing of radio signals. It is shown that this approximation is inapplicable in certain important cases of the synthesis and analysis of space-time processing systems; instead, a rigorous electrodynamic approach is required. This sort of rigorous approach is developed for taking into account the Doppler effect in the processing of signals with plane and spherical wave fronts in passive and active radar. The validity of this approximation for the case of a moving target indication system is examined.
