Experimental study of collisions between rapidly-moving droplets in gas flows
Abstract
The technique and results of an experimental study of mass and momentum transfer in collisions of rapidly moving droplets in a gas flow are presented. Formulas for the coalescence and breakup parameter and also for parameters of the distribution of fragments by size and initial velocities are obtained. It is established that these phenomena are significantly interrelated, so that in order to obtain reliable information on the relationships governing transport in gas-liquid flows, these two processes must be examined simultaneously.
