Observation of Anomalous Reaction Mean Free Paths of Nuclear Projectile Fragments in Research Emulsion from 2 A GEV Heavy Ion Collisions.
Abstract
From an analysis of 1460 projectile fragment collisions in nuclear research emulsion exposed to 2.1 A GeV ('16)O and 1.9 GeV ('56)Fe at the Bevalac, evidence is presented for the existence of an anomalously short interaction mean free path of projectile fragments for the first several cm after emission. The result is significant to beyond the 3 standard deviation confidence level.
