Venera 13 and Venera 14 measurements of the water vapor content in the Venus atmosphere
Abstract
In the experiment to determine the moisture content of the Venus atmosphere, the Venera 13 and Venera 14 landers carried type VM-3R humidity analyzers whose moisture-sensitive element is an electrolytic LiCl-based heating hygrometer. Provision is made for absolute humidity measurements from 0.06 to 17 mm-Hg or a dew point from -44 C to +20 C. Measurements were conducted at heights of about 50-46 km above the surface of the planet. The volume abundance of water vapor at these levels is (0.2 + or - 0.04) percent.
