The orbital period of the symbiotic star AX Per.
Abstract
The photometric data of Mjalkovskij (1977) are used in analyzing the quiescent light curve of the symbiotic star AX Per. In the photographic and photovisual light curves, the minima are given by Min = JD2436679.4 + 681.6 E. The mean photographic magnitude is 13.05 with an amplitude of 0.7m, whereas the mean photovisual magnitude is 11.38 with an amplitude of 0.36m. It is noted that the variation may be qualitatively understood in terms of the reflection of light from a hot star off of a red-giant companion. Thus, the 681.6-day period represents the binary period of AX Per.
