Approach to the theory of mode locking by synchronous pumping
Abstract
A simple method is proposed for calculating the steady-state pulse profiles in the case of mode locking by synchronous pumping whereby the profiles can be generated without significant approximation. The results differ, both in character and interpretation, from those predicted by previous analytical approaches, showing, for instance, that steady-state pulse profiles occur even in the absence of bandwidth limitation.
