Analysis of similarity in thermophysics
Abstract
This monograph examines general principles for the analysis of physical similarity and the application of these principles to problems of thermohydrodynamics and thermogasdynamics. Attention is given to the development and physical interpretation of fundamental similarity criteria for homogeneous media, multicomponent and multiphase media, phase transitions, chemical reactions, and MHD interactions; radiative heat transfer, near-wall turbulence, and boundary layers at high Reynolds numbers are among the specific situations considered. Examples of self-similar situations are given for which the analysis of similarity leads directly to unambiguous results.
