Nonlinear hydrodynamic stability of some simple rotational flows
Abstract
A theorem due to Arnold about the nonlinear stability of steady plane curvilinear flows of an inviscid fluid is applied to a new class of loop and bend flows recently obtained by Shercliff. The stability (in the Lyapunov sense) of some of these flows is thus proved.
