Simulation of isotropic homogeneous turbulent flow
Abstract
A numerical model for three-dimensional homogeneous isotropic turbulent flow is presented in order to study the behavior of particles suspended in the flow. An energy spectrum function is defined a priori for the flow. A fast Fourier transformation algorithm is examined for the Fourier components of the velocity field, followed by determination of the energy, energy transfer, and the energy dissipation spectrum. The energy spectrum is also employed to obtain the autocorrelation function, the micro-, and integral scales.
