Acoustoelectric oscillations in a bounded active stratified-periodic medium
Abstract
Consideration is given to the interaction of acoustic waves with drift oscillations in a bounded stratified-periodic current-carrying semiconductor structure, i.e., a piezodielectric. A method based on function matrix theory is developed for the analysis of this system. It is shown that an effective amplification of acoustic waves occurs in such a structure, the increments being proportional to the square or cube of the number of periods in the system. The propagation characteristics of acoustic and drift oscillations are examined, and a number of waves peculiar to such bounded systems are identified. Particular consideration is given to the oscillations of a stratified-periodic layer lying on an elastic base (Love waves), and to the reflection of acoustic waves from stratified-periodic structures.
